Oops I Dropped It Again
Have you ever been in such a rush when getting ready you manage to knock everything off the counter, including your precious face compact? I know I have, and instant tears form. But then you remember how much time was spent getting Beyonce ready. Repeat "no ugly tears" x 1000! Breathe. I got you covered. Woosah!
Another beauty hack coming your way to save the day and all the unforeseen dropped makeup in the future.
You won't believe how incredibly easy this hack is and why you didn't know about it sooner! The best part, I bet you have everything you need in your medicine cabinet (or somewhere around the house).
*Note this will work for all powder base makeup (eye shadow, blush, contour, highlighter, etc.)
Check out the step-by-step tutorial on how to get your life... I mean compact back together!
Shattered compact, rubbing alcohol, eye dropper, spoon, plastic wrap & baby wipes or a damp cloth.
Place a large piece of plastic wrap down on your table, because this project can get a tad messy! You could also use a towel or paper towels, but I like the ease of plastic wrap, super easy clean up. And as a mom on-the-go, the easier the better.
Use the back of your spoon to smash the larger pieces of the broken compact, pushing down firmly, but slowly. Be careful not to sneeze or the powder will go every where! Trying to eliminate the messes here.
Fill an eye dropper with rubbing alcohol. If you don't have a handy eye dropper around, you could use a medicine syringe or simply pour some rubbing alcohol into a spoon.
Take your dropper and start to generously drop in the rubbing alcohol all over the smoothed out powder.
Mix the rubbing alcohol into the powder to create a paste. Add in more rubbing alcohol as needed.
Once the alcohol is fully incorporated into the makeup. Smooth the surface with the back of a spoon. The makeup should resemble a paste and it should look similar to the image above.
Use a baby wipe, or a damp cloth/paper towel to clean up the excess from around the edges of the compact.
Take an extra piece of plastic wrap and place it directly on top of the smoothed out surface.
Take the compact sponge or a soft surface and gently press down on top of the plastic wrap. This helps to compress the makeup back to its original form.
Slowly remove the plastic wrap. Leave the compact out in a dry place for 24-48 hours to fully cure. Once fully dry, your most precious compact will be restored to it's regular state. All hail this 10 step makeup hack!
If your compact has slight cracks in it once it's dried, add a few more drops of rubbing alcohol to the cracked areas and smooth out with the back of a spoon. Leave out to dry and voila!
