A Day at Pacific Waters Spa - Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach

April 10, 2019

Going into 2019, I made a promise to myself that I will FOCUS (my 2019 word) more on self-care and self-love. Since my birthday is in January, why not start with showing myself some R&R at the gorgeous Pacific Waters Spa at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach? I also set a goal to spend more time with my close friends. Luckily for me, my best friend of 20 years (and counting) share our birthday! How cool is that? We have celebrated many trips around the sun with each other, and each year they seem to get better and better.

We had gone back and forth on what we wanted to do this year for our birthday. Should we go wine tasting? Have a tea party? Or possibly a little staycation somewhere? While those were all solid possibilities, we of course ended up choosing to spend our day at a local spa. It couldn't just be any spa, it needed to be somewhere a little special. I've fancied a couple treatments at Pacific Waters Spa before, so I already knew what to expect. And we were definitely in store for a lovely experience.

The spa is tucked away on the far East side of the Huntington Beach Hyatt Regency, which means you get to take a stroll through the beautiful grounds of the property. Peeking views of the Pacific Ocean along the way. Before entering the spa, you'll cross a small wooden bridge that hosts dozens of gorgeous koi fish below. For some reason I love to take a few moments and gaze at their vibrant colors and embrace the tranquility of their movements.

As we entered the spa lobby we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff. The check-in process was quick and easy since we already had booked our reservation. They called for an attendant to show us around the women's lounge. We made our way to our lockers, got ourselves wrapped in our plush spa robes and explored all the amenities they had to offer. And they had it all: coffee, tea, cucumber infused water, muffins, granola, and other small noshes.

After nibbling a tiny snack, our massage therapists made their way to us and escorted us to our respective massage rooms. Each of us opted for the Pacific Massage which is a relaxing Swedish style massage designed to release tension built up in the body. After my 50 minutes was up, I was praying it wasn't over! Massages are never long enough, I could have laid there all day. My therapist really worked her magic and I felt as though I could walk on clouds.

The bestie and I met up in the ladies lounge post massage bliss and grabbed some water to flush out the toxins and munched on some treats. At check-in we had mentioned we were there celebrating our birthdays, and post massage they surprised us each with a glass of bubbly! The customer service is seriously on point. I raise my glass to them, cheers.

Now our day was far from being over! We made sure to take full advantage of everything Pacific Waters had to offer. So, naturally we changed into our bathing suits and hopped in the whirlpool. It was so nice to soak in hot water after a relaxing massage. Even better we had the whole whirlpool to ourselves, well and our glass of champs, obvi.

As we began to turn into human raisins, we figured we might want to get on with our day. We made our way to the showers and they came fully stocked with all the necessities: shampoo, conditioner, body wash and eucalyptus spray. I love to douse my shower with the eucalyptus spray to really revel in the spa experience.

Of course, we couldn't leave the spa looking like wet dogs, further enjoying our leisurely stay we finished getting ready at the vanity stations complete with blow driers, curling irons and all the hair products one could need. This place really has everything! I always come prepared with my own stuff, but if you forget something they have you covered.

As you can tell, this is a rave review. I loved celebrating our birthday at the Pacific Waters Spa. I loved being able to relax and have some real quality time with my best gal pal. If you're in the Orange County area and looking for a quality spa to check out, you know where my recommendation is. It's a wonderful place to treat yourself. Makes a terrific gift for anyone who needs some R&R. It's also a great place to enjoy some quality time with your significant other. All-in-all, it's a great place any time for anyone.
